Herbaceous plants have non-woody stems that flower and reach their optimal height within a year, before dying back during the winter months. Perennial is a term which indicates that the plant will flower for a minimum of two seasons, as its underground plant parts can survive in cold temperatures. This enables herbaceous perennials to start growing and flowering again in the spring for several years to come, allowing you to enjoy a stunning, low-maintenance garden.

We grow perennials in 9cm square pots or 2-litre pots. We also sell a wide selection of larger herbaceous shrubs in 3-litre pots that are suitable for hedging or as standalone specimens. Matching even the largest commercial garden centre in the region, we also sell a huge range of other perennials, shrubs, succulents and climbers for customers in Bognor Regis, Chichester and the West Sussex area.
Compared to other types of bedding and basket plants, you only need to plant herbaceous perennials once, so they are perfect for creating low-maintenance gardens. However, as they die back in the autumn and winter months, we recommend combining them with shrubs, grasses and evergreens to avoid bare and uninspiring flowerbeds.
For a truly spectacular explosion of colours, scents and textures in the summer months, we suggest implementing herbaceous borders into your garden, in particular in groups of threes, fives, sevens or nines for an impact display. Bunching flowering plants together creates a much more pleasing visual aesthetic and really delivers that ‘wow!’ factor to your garden.
